Good Heavens! Drinking Yogurt - Review

Good Heavens! Drinking Yogurts contain real fruit, are bursting with flavour, tasty, creamy, and an added bonus, they are good for you too. The low fat live probiotic yogurt drinks are a perfect way for adults to start the day. These new cute bottles are beautifully presented in a small eye catching carry case - I kept my bottles in the case until the last one had been drank, they look so lovely and I couldn't bring myself to throw the box away........

I have been sent Good Morning! Raspberry, Oats and Honey yogurt drink - a zing of raspberry, oats for fibre and lightly sweetened with honey - this one is a slightly thicker yogurt drink. I was concerned the oats might be a little annoying to drink, but 6% finely milled oatmeal was absolutely fine and an easy way to get extra fibre into my diet. This is the perfect start to the day, or for those days when you can't find time for breakfast, can't face breakfast, need breakfast on the go or had an early start to the day.  Also available in Blueberry, Oats and Honey.

Next I tried the heavenly Luscious Strawberry Drinking Yogurt, this is a taste of summer past and perfect for those of us who love fruit. Not just for breakfast but anytime of the day, and if you find yourself beginning to feel weary mid afternoon these are the perfect pick-me-up.  Available in Refreshing Apple & Pear or Succulent Blackcurrant too.

The 125ml bottles of yogurt come in a 4 pack carry case. RRP £2.50 and available at Tesco and other supermarkets.

Good Heavens! are a Boutique Dairy based in Hayes, Middlesex.  They make their yogurt slowly and in small batches. Completely natural, free from additives, packed with real fruit and contain over 25% of an adult's calcium RDA.

Thank you to Martin and Good Heavens! for the review samples.

Judge Digital Yoghurt Maker - Review

The Judge Cookware Digital Yoghurt Maker is compact, and comes with seven 150 ml capacity jars, each with their own coloured lid, and after use they can be washed in the dishwasher. The instructions supplied with the yoghurt maker are very thorough and easy to follow.

I always have fun experimenting with new kitchen gadgets and making your own yoghurt is the perfect way to ensure you know exactly what goes into your pot of yoghurt, or is it yoghourt or yogurt?

All you need is a litre of milk and a pot of live yoghurt to produce seven jars of natural yogurt.

The milk has to be heated to 80ºC and then cooled down to 40ºC. Divide the pot of yoghurt between the jars, pour in the cooled milk, stir, replace the lids and sit the pots inside the yoghurt maker, place the cover over, set the timer between 7 to 8 hours and leave until the alarm sounds. It takes approximately 8 hours to produce a jar of yoghurt plus chill down time in the fridge.

I used full fat Goat's milk and a thick creamy live yoghurt which contains a lactobacillus culture.  This produced a mild creamy yoghurt, it isn't as thick as bought but you know it is fresh and preservative free.

I filled the jars with chopped kiwi fruit, honey which is a favourite of mine, I also thawed some blackcurrants, redcurrants, blackberries and strawberries which have been stashed away in the freezer from my fruit bushes.

Use the instructions provided as a blue print and then try different milks to suit your needs and taste.  UHT milk mixed with thick live yoghurt is mild, thick and creamy. Fresh milk mixed with milk powder and live yoghurt produces a thicker yoghurt.  Live yoghurt is said to be beneficial for our digestive health and a jar of yoghurt poured over your breakfast cereal not only does you good but tastes wonderful too. Natural yoghurt will help tenderise meat and is a great standby to use as an ingredient in baking or cooking. Once you have made your own yoghurt you will wonder why you never made it before.

The Judge Digital Yoghurt Maker can be purchased from Cookshops, or from Amazon for £34.94 and will make a great gift too.

Thank you to Pam and Judge Cookware.

Good heavens! Drinking Yogurts: Review

Good heavens! Drinking Yogurts, are adult treats, made from natural ingredients, probiotic and mostly low fat too. They are made by a small boutique dairy with over 20 year's yogurt making experience.

Luscious Strawberry, Succulent Blackcurrant, Refreshing Apple and Pear contain real fruit pieces. Lemon and Poppy Seed is smooth with seeds, but don't let the seeds put you off because there wasn't any crunch with them. The combination of tang from yogurt and zing from fresh fruit is heavenly and I think I may well rename them 'Heavenly Yogurt Drinks'.  The drinks are almost as thick as a smoothie and are refreshing, sophisticated, exceptional quality and come in 250ml bottles.

Indulgent Salted Caramel is smooth and rich, I found this one to be too much of a good thing and couldn't drink it all at once.  Fortunately, once opened the yogurt will keep safely in the  fridge for a couple of days. This yogurt could be used to flavour the batter mix of a cupcake recipe and also could be used to flavour the buttercream icing too.

The drinking yogurts are available from Tesco Express and Metros, Selfridges, Harrods, Sourced Market (St Pancras), Whole Foods Market, the Camden Food Company (8 London train stations, plus Birmingham and Leeds) and As Nature Intended.

There are 6 non-organic flavours with a RRP of £1.69 and 4 organic flavours with a RRP of £2.10.

Thank you to Good heavens! Drinking Yogurts and Martin.
